The unfortunate event occurred on Monday evening in Geruput village, located under the Nandapur block. The deceased have been identified as Balaram Galel and his wife, Bala Galel.
The couple, who operated a tea stall near Nandapur, had ventured into the nearby forest to gather firewood for their evening tea preparation. When they failed to return after an extended period, concerned family members and villagers initiated a search operation. Their bodies were discovered entangled in electric wires set by poachers, highlighting the grave danger posed by such illegal activities.
This incident has ignited outrage within the community, with villagers demanding strict action against the poachers responsible for the hazardous situation. Upon notification, a police team from Nandapur arrived at the scene and has since launched an investigation. The police recovered the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examinations.
The grieving family has appealed to the district administration for adequate compensation to support them during this tragic time, as efforts continue to identify and apprehend the poachers responsible for this horrific act.
