Bhubaneswar, Dec 6 (Reporterspen): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh weather alert for Odisha, predicting dense fog in several districts over the next two days. According to the regional centre, dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places in Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Koraput on December 7, with similar conditions expected to persist on December 8.

In addition to fog, cold wave conditions are likely to prevail in isolated pockets of Jharsuguda and Angul. The IMD has cautioned residents in these areas to brace for a significant drop in temperatures, especially during the early morning and nighttime hours. The sudden spell of chill is expected to affect daily activities, prompting officials to advise people to dress warmly and limit exposure to cold winds.

Motorists have been urged to remain extra vigilant, as dense fog may reduce visibility on major roads and highways, increasing the risk of accidents. The IMD has advised drivers to use fog lights, avoid overspeeding, and plan travel carefully.

With winter conditions intensifying, the IMD continues to monitor the situation closely, while urging the public to follow weather updates and safety guidelines.
