Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Dec 17: In a shocking incident, a half-burnt unidentified body was discovered at the weekly market in Kendujiani under Thakurmunda area of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday morning. The gruesome sight left locals and traders in shock as the charred condition of the body made identification impossible.
According to sources, the semi-burnt body was spotted by locals early in the morning, prompting them to alert the police. A team from Thakurmunda police station arrived at the scene and immediately launched an investigation into the matter. To aid the probe, a scientific team from Baripada was summoned for a detailed examination of the spot.
Preliminary police suspicions indicate that the individual may have been murdered elsewhere, and the body was later dumped at the market and set on fire to destroy evidence. The remains will be sent for post-mortem examination once the scientific team completes its investigation.
Efforts are ongoing to identify the deceased, with police questioning locals and nearby residents for clues. The shocking incident has raised safety concerns in the area, and further investigation is underway.
