Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Aug 10: The Odisha government has announced plans to grant land ownership to homesteadless families, including the poor and tribals residing on forest land without pattas, by December.
A new survey will be conducted from August 16 to September 15 to identify eligible beneficiaries, as decided in a review meeting chaired by Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari on Friday.
Sources indicate that poor families, whether living in cities or villages, will be allocated land measuring four decimals within a specified timeframe. District collectors have been instructed to begin the enumeration process immediately and complete it by December 31.
The government has also resolved to issue immediate land pattas to 2,276 homeless families identified in the 2018 survey.
Furthermore, educational institutions have been directed to ensure that government land is properly recorded under their names and that they take possession of it.
