Bhubaneswar, June 20: Athena Music Academy (AMA), a division of the Basanta Misra Education and Welfare Trust, celebrated Mukul Utsav, its first Annual Day function, at Bhanja Kala Mandap here on Saturday. The event was held under the leadership of Ms. Gayatri Mohapatra, Director of Athena Music Academy. The programme marked 11 years of the institution and featured performances by students in Vocal Music, Violin, Guitar, Keyboard, Odissi Dance, Modern Dance, Karate and Fine Arts.
Noted choreographer and director Raj Narayan Panda, who has directed and choreographed over 8,000 Odia music videos and devotional productions for platforms including Doordarshan, Tarang, and Prarthana, attended the event as the Chief Guest.
Guests of Honour included eminent violinist Rama Chandra Mohanty; Prateek Mohapatra (Phoenix), rapper and musician credited with bringing Odia hip-hop to mainstream regional entertainment; Bboy Pandia, founder of Breakmotive and a prominent exponent of the art of Breaking in Odisha; Suman Saurav Samal, entrepreneur and promoter of independent music platforms supporting emerging artistes; Anirban Pal (Anirvana), electronic music artist and International Book of Records holder known for his contributions to the underground
electronic music scene; Anuj Biswal (PSYBER), DJ and co-founder of the innovative After Hours by Boiler Balcony initiative; and Satwik Mohanty, an emerging electronic music artist and the youngest member of the Boiler Balcony collective.
The dignitaries were felicitated for their contributions to music, dance and the performing arts. Speaking on the occasion, they appreciated the academy’s efforts in promoting arts education and providing a platform for young talent. The programme also featured
performances by faculty members and accompanying artistes. It was anchored by Ms. Pratikshya Tripathy. Teachers, students, parents and supporters of the institution were present on the occasion and contributed to the successful conduct of the event.
