accident: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Jan 25: A tragic car accident on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar late on Friday night claimed the life of one person and left four others injured. The deceased has been identified as Sunil Swain, who was driving the ill-fated car. The injured victims are Rajesh Maharana, Kanhu Charan Mallick, Chandan Mallick, and Sangram Rout, all employees of a mixture company in Mancheswar, Bhubaneswar.
The accident occurred around 1:20 am near Lingipur Daya bridge on the Bhubaneswar-Puri National Highway bypass, as the group was returning to Bhubaneswar from a feast in Puri. According to sources, the car collided with a roadside tree before smashing into an electric pole, resulting in the immediate death of the driver. The force of the impact caused the power pole to tilt toward the road, blocking the path. Dense fog is being cited as a possible factor behind the low visibility during the crash.
Locals managed to rescue two individuals, while fire brigade personnel had to extricate the other two who were trapped inside the wreckage. The injured were initially taken to Capital Hospital and later transferred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. Two of the injured are reported to be in critical condition. Dhauli police have seized the car and launched an investigation into the incident.
