Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Oct 2: (Bhubaneswar gang-rape) Commissionerate Police have detained two individuals in connection with the alleged robbery and gang-rape of a woman in her apartment at Maitri Vihar, Odisha’s capital, late Sunday night. The woman filed a complaint on Tuesday, stating that two masked robbers broke into her flat, looted valuables, and then raped her while threatening her toddler at knifepoint.
The woman explained that after putting her daughter to bed, she woke up around 2 am, sat on the balcony, and later went to the bathroom. Upon exiting, she encountered the burglars, who stole a gold earring and her mobile phone. Realizing there was no male member in the house, the robbers assaulted her before fleeing. They threatened to kill her daughter if she reported the crime and returned her SIM card before leaving.
The victim, employed at a private hospital, had moved into the apartment with her two-year-old daughter just ten days prior. The apartment complex houses families relocated from the Nilamadhaba slum under a government rehabilitation scheme.
