Crime News: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Oct 30: A youth has died after allegedly being poisoned by his younger brother in Gundicha Colony, Salpada, under the Anandapur block of Odisha’s Keonjhar district. Sources indicate that Satyabrata Das poisoned his elder brother, Debabrata Das, due to grievances over Debabrata’s strict and overprotective behavior.

An audio recording of a conversation between the brothers has gone viral, in which Debabrata discusses his declining health while accusing Satyabrata of poisoning him over property disputes and academic pressures. He expressed his anguish, saying, “What pains me more than the physical discomfort is that my own brother poisoned me. I can never forgive you as long as I live. You have tried to kill me in a pre-planned manner, and if I file a complaint, you will spend the rest of your life in jail.”

In the recording, Debabrata also refers to Satyabrata as a “psycho” and pleads for information on the poison to help doctors treat him. Satyabrata reportedly confessed to mixing monocrotophos (a pesticide) into Debabrata’s food three times and even locking him in a room before releasing formaldehyde.

Family members later rescued Debabrata in critical condition and rushed him to a hospital in Cuttack, where he was treated for nine days. During this time, he recorded conversations with Satyabrata before being transferred to Bhubaneswar, where his condition deteriorated, ultimately leading to his death.
