communal tension: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Sept 30: After three days of communal tension, the situation in Bhadrak, Odisha, showed signs of improvement, prompting local authorities to allow shops to operate from 6 AM to 7 PM on Monday. Reports indicate that shops in Dhamnagar and Dobal have reopened, and banking services have resumed.
Despite the easing of restrictions, prohibitory orders under Section 163 remain in effect, banning all gatherings and demonstrations indefinitely across the district. Internet services will continue to be suspended for an additional 48 hours, with access limited to banks, corporate entities, and large industrial organizations through leased lines, according to DIG (eastern range) Satyajit Nayak.
Initially, internet services were set to resume at 2 AM on September 30 after a 48-hour suspension. Nayak reported no fresh incidents of violence in Bhadrak town or Dhamnagar and confirmed the deployment of two companies of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) in these areas. He advised residents to avoid spreading rumors and to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary.
