Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Sept 24: (EV project) Amidst reports that the Sajjan Jindal-led JSW Group may relocate its planned ₹40,000-crore electric vehicle (EV) and battery project from Odisha to Maharashtra, Industries Minister Sampad Swain stated on Tuesday that the company has not yet made a final decision.

“We have received no communication regarding this, and the government is actively working on this matter. Investors make decisions based on their own considerations, and delays can occur for various reasons. There have been significant delays in starting projects in the past, including with JSW,” the minister informed reporters.

Earlier, JSW had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Odisha government to establish an Integrated Electric Vehicles (EV) and EV Battery Manufacturing Project in Cuttack and Paradip.

A JSW spokesperson confirmed that land acquisition for the proposed project has yet to begin, stating, “Once the state government hands over the land, we will proceed with setting up the plant.”
