Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen): The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today organised its Jan Sampark Padayatra at Raja Padia, Ward No. 52, Airport Road, under the Ekamra Assembly Constituency. The programme was organised under the leadership of Bhubaneswar District BJD President and former Minister Shri Ashok Chandra Panda, and was attended by thousands of BJD workers and supporters. Biju Janata Dal President Shri Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the Padayatra and participated in the programme along with party workers and supporters.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Naveen Patnaik said that the Biju Janata Dal has always remained in the hearts of the people of Odisha for its service to the people and its good work, and will continue to remain in their hearts in the days to come. Odisha is currently passing through a difficult period. Although the Government claims to be a government of the people, it is not listening to the problems of the people. Children do not have textbooks, elderly people are facing difficulties in receiving pensions, farmers are facing immense hardships, and mothers are also facing various problems. The State Government also failed to properly manage the Rath Yatra of Mahaprabhu. The disorder in providing relief to flood victims, paddy procurement, recruitment examinations and financial management has exposed the Government’s administrative capability.

On the issue of Odisha’s mineral resources, Shri Patnaik said that the Central Government has taken away the rights of the people of Odisha over the State’s mineral resources. The silence of the Odisha Government and the BJP MPs elected from Odisha on this issue clearly shows that the BJP is anti-people. When it comes to the interests of the people of Odisha, they remain silent, while they are ready to fight for the interests of mine owners.

Similarly, there are thousands of errors in the textbooks of students, but instead of correcting these mistakes, the Government continues to commit one mistake after another. Parents are expressing concern over the future of their children because of these unforgivable mistakes of the Government. Revenue collection in the State is declining, while the funds allocated in the Budget are not being properly utilised. At a time when developmental activities have come to a complete standstill, questions are being raised over the continuous increase in the debt burden of the State. Following the ideals of Biju Babu, the Biju Janata Dal has continuously fought for the interests of Odisha. Shri Naveen Patnaik called upon BJD workers to further intensify the party’s struggle in the coming days for the rights, dignity and development of Odisha.

On this occasion, the gathering was addressed by BJD Senior Vice-President Shri Debi Prasad Mishra, former Minister Shri Ashok Chandra Panda, MLA Shri Ananta Narayan Jena, MLA Shri Sushant Rout, Bhubaneswar Mayor Smt. Sulochana Das and Shri Manmath Routray. Smt. Manjulata Kanhar proposed the vote of thanks.
