Odisha news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), March 3: In an effort to facilitate landowners in selling segmented portions of their plots, the Odisha Urban Development Department has drafted a proposal and forwarded it to the Revenue Department for review, informed Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari on Monday.

The Revenue Department is currently examining the draft and is expected to make necessary modifications before issuing a formal notification by March. If finalized, the sale of part plots is likely to commence in Odisha from April. This initiative is aimed at streamlining urban land use and ensuring transparent land allocation, addressing challenges in property distribution.

Minister Pujari emphasized that necessary infrastructure and technology would be in place to ensure a smooth registration process under the new guidelines. The proposal also considers legal issues related to apartment registrations, which had previously halted transactions.

To resolve these concerns, coordination between the Urban Development Department and RERA has been initiated. The amended regulations will not apply to those who purchased apartments before the notification’s issuance, ensuring a fair transition for property buyers.
