Crime news: Keonjhar engineering student brutally attacked by seniors in hostel, police complaint filed

Crime news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Nov 6: A second-year student of a government engineering college in Keonjhar, Odisha, has filed a complaint against five senior students, accusing them of ragging and physically assaulting him at the hostel. The victim, Biswajeet Behera, suffered injuries to his back, hands, and legs and is currently receiving treatment at the district headquarters hospital.

According to sources, the incident occurred around 2:20 am when the five seniors knocked on Biswajeet’s hostel room door and forcefully entered. They reportedly attacked him with wooden planks and rods, leaving him severely injured. It is suspected that the attack was a form of revenge, as Biswajeet had previously reported a ragging incident involving the seniors to the college principal.

Biswajeet’s family has filed an official complaint with the police, demanding swift and stringent action against the accused students. College Principal Saroj Kumar Sarangi visited the hospital to check on Biswajeet’s condition and assured that the anti-ragging cell would take strict action against those responsible.
