Cyclone Dana: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Oct 25: Following the landfall of Cyclone Dana, the Puri district administration announced on Friday that the advisory warning tourists against visiting the Shree Jagannath Temple in the pilgrim town has been lifted.

“Puri received a total of 283 mm of rainfall, with the highest recorded at 39 mm in Krushnaprasad. Initial assessments by the Block Development Officer (BDO) and executive officers indicate no damage to public property from the cyclone, which has now weakened. Rain has ceased in Puri town, and the situation has returned to normal, allowing us to withdraw the advisory. I encourage tourists to visit the town for darshan of the sibling deities,” Puri Collector Siddharth Shankar Swain informed the media.

He added that while tourists are welcome at the beaches, they should avoid entering the sea, which remains rough. “Fire Service personnel and lifeguards are stationed at the beaches, and I urge visitors to follow their instructions,” Swain advised.

The Collector also emphasized the need for tourists to take precautions due to a continuing yellow warning for heavy rain in Puri. He confirmed that trips for Habisiyalis, elderly women observing Karita Brata, to the Jagannath Temple will resume on Saturday. Additionally, the Sun Temple in Konark will reopen to tourists, following a request to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to lift its closure, which was initially set until October 25.
