Bhubaneswar, (Reporters Pen): Sept 3: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a return of heavy rain in Odisha, with the potential formation of a new low-pressure area over the west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal around September 5. The IMD has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning for the upcoming days.
For September 3 and 4, isolated thunderstorms with lightning are expected in several districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh. On September 4, the warning extends to Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, and Kalahandi, in addition to the previously mentioned districts.
On September 5-6, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Kalahandi. Thunderstorms with lightning may also affect Nuapada, Balangir, Kandhamal, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, and other districts on these dates.
The weather pattern is expected to continue, with heavy rain and thunderstorms potentially affecting Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, and Kalahandi on September 7. Isolated thunderstorms with lightning may also occur in various districts including Nayagarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Bargarh, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, and others.
