jagannath temple: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Jan 14: The repair work of the Ratna Bhandar (treasury) at the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha, is expected to be completed by March this year, according to Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan.

Harichandan informed reporters on Tuesday that the repair work had made significant progress. However, it has been temporarily suspended to facilitate the smooth conduct of the Makar Sankranti rituals. The work will resume on January 17.

Though the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) had initially requested three months to finish the repairs, the minister assured that the process would be completed well ahead of the ASI’s projected timeline.

Harichandan emphasized that all efforts are being made to ensure the repair work is finalized before the deadline. Once the repairs are finished, a detailed inventory of all valuables and ornaments of the deities will be conducted.

These valuables, including previously stored gems and jewelry, which were temporarily kept in a secure strong room, will be moved back to the treasury. Following this, a thorough counting of the precious gems and ornaments will take place.
