Laxmi Bus: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Oct 14: Residents of Bhograi in Balasore district, Odisha, faced significant disruptions on Monday as drivers of the Location Accessible Multi-modal Initiative (LAccMI) buses went on strike. This protest aims to compel the authorities to fulfill their six-point demands, which the drivers claim have long been ignored.
According to sources, the drivers initiated the strike after the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) allegedly failed to address key issues, including a request to limit their working hours to eight per day and to establish a fixed daily wage. “We will continue our strike until our demands are met,” the drivers asserted, highlighting their determination for change.
Currently, six LAccMI buses operate in the Bhograi block, offering affordable transportation to hundreds of daily commuters. The absence of these buses has left many individuals struggling to find alternative means of travel, causing considerable inconvenience for the local community. Authorities have yet to respond to the situation, raising concerns about the future of public transport in the area.
