Mayurbhanj News: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Oct 1: The Mayurbhanj administration has implemented restrictions on the movement of heavy vehicles along NH-49 in Odisha’s Bangriposi ghat to address a significant traffic jam. The restrictions took effect on Tuesday at 6 AM and will remain in place until further notice.

In response to the situation, the police chiefs of Bangriposi and Bisoi have been instructed to assign officers on both sides of the ghat road to help regulate the flow of heavy vehicles. According to the notification, police personnel will control vehicle movement, allowing traffic to flow alternately from Bangriposi to Bisoi and vice versa in 90-minute intervals, continuing around the clock.

The notification also stated that vehicles will be parked on the left side of the road at both ends of the ghat. The traffic jam was exacerbated by the breakdown of three trucks on the poorly maintained highway, which left many truckers stranded for four days and blocked pedestrian access. The congestion stretched up to 13 kilometers, drawing attention when a netizen shared videos on social media showing the long lines of heavy vehicles at Maa Dwarseni ghat.
