Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Sept 18: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast isolated heavy rainfall (low pressure) across 10 districts in Odisha on Wednesday. This follows the movement of a well-marked Low Pressure area from central north Madhya Pradesh towards Pendra Road, Puri, and southeastwards to the east-central Bay of Bengal.
A yellow warning for heavy rainfall has been issued for isolated locations in Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Cuttack, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur, and Bargarh districts. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are also expected at many places in North Odisha and at a few locations in South Odisha.
Bhubaneswar may experience a partly cloudy sky with occasional rain or thundershowers.
The state saw a decrease in rainfall activity on Tuesday, following a day of 103% surplus showers. Although no specific weather warnings are in place for September 19, the IMD has predicted thunderstorms with lightning in isolated areas of Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Bargarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh on September 20. Yellow warnings for thunderstorms with lightning will continue in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar on September 21, and in Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Jajpur on September 22. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected statewide during this period.
