Odisha CM: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Oct 1: During his recent trip to Jharkhand on Monday, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi brought attention to the issue of ‘Odia Asmita’ (Odia pride) while addressing a meeting at Chaibasa, part of the Jharkhand BJP’s ‘Parivartan Yatra’ campaign. He criticized the Hemant Soren-led government for undermining the cultural and educational rights of Odia-speaking residents in the state.

Highlighting the challenges faced by the Odia community, Majhi stated, “Odia-speaking people are in a state of neglect in Jharkhand. The government here has conspired to destroy Odia education and language.”

He expressed his commitment to promoting Odia culture and education, pledging that if the BJP comes to power, Odia teachers would be appointed in 136 schools across Jharkhand. Additionally, he promised that Odia students would receive free textbooks, aiming to enhance their educational opportunities and preserve the language. Majhi’s remarks reflect a broader concern for the welfare of the Odia community outside Odisha and a commitment to their cultural identity.
