political news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Nov 8: On Friday, activists from the student wing of Odisha Congress staged a protest outside the residence of Higher Education Minister Suryabansi Suraj in Bhubaneswar, accusing him of irregularities in the admission process at Utkal University. The demonstrators gathered in large numbers, raising slogans and throwing eggs at the Minister’s residence in a bid to highlight their grievances.
The protesters claimed that the admission process at Utkal University was marred by irregularities due to pressure from the Minister. They pointed to a specific case where a student, who was unable to secure admission, had filed a petition in court. University authorities stated that the student failed to appear for admission within the prescribed time, and as per university rules, the seat was allocated to another applicant.
While the matter remains sub-judice, Congress activists took to the streets, directing their protests at the Minister. Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Anil Biswal condemned the Congress student wing’s actions, emphasizing that the court will decide the matter, and if the ruling is in the student’s favor, they will be granted admission.
