weather news: Bhubaneswar, (Jatindra Send), Oct 19: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy rainfall at isolated locations in Odisha on Saturday, October 19, due to a cyclonic circulation forming over the Central Andaman Sea. The weather system is expected to intensify into a low-pressure area over the Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and the adjoining North Andaman Sea by October 21. Following this, it is projected to move northwestward and could develop into a depression around October 23, according to the IMD’s midday bulletin.
Private forecaster Skymet reports that the cyclonic circulation may evolve into a low-pressure area by October 22. While weather models show limited accuracy beyond 4-5 days, indications suggest the system will intensify as it moves northwest towards the central Bay of Bengal, potentially impacting the coastlines of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.
Should the cyclone develop, it may make landfall in coastal regions of India and Bangladesh between October 24 and 26. The cyclone could carry maximum wind speeds ranging from 100 to 120 km/h if it reaches Barishal and Khulna divisions, and 130 to 150 km/h if it strikes the Odisha coastline.
