Odisha Vigilance arrests senior transport official in multi-crore DA case

Odisha Vigilance: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen) March 8: Odisha Vigilance arrested Pradeep Kumar Mohanty, Joint Commissioner, State Transport Authority (STA), Cuttack, on Friday after multiple raids were conducted on his properties for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. The vigilance department stated that Mohanty would be produced in court soon.

Raids were carried out across nine locations, including Cuttack, Puri, Nayagarh, and Khurda, where officials unearthed huge amounts of movable and immovable assets. The accused officer was found in possession of four multi-storey buildings, Rs. 1 crore paid for a 4-BHK flat in Bhubaneswar, two benami flats in Puri, 11 plots, a 14-acre farmhouse, 2.1 kg of gold, Rs. 17.55 lakh in cash, and multiple benami vehicles, including three four-wheelers and one two-wheeler.

Among his properties, vigilance officials identified a triple-storey house in Bhubaneswar, a five-storey under-construction building in Khurda, a suspected benami house in Puri, and a farmhouse in Nayagarh. Investigations are ongoing to assess the valuation of assets, bank accounts, insurance policies, and other financial holdings.
