Crime News: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Nov 4: Police on Monday arrested an additional suspect in the alleged murder of Silu Pradhan, a 22-year-old contractual worker for Neelachal Ispat Nigam Ltd (NINL) whose body was discovered buried on the plant premises in Kalinga Nagar, Odisha. This arrest follows the apprehension of four other individuals—Tarini Prasad Mohanty, Jagdish Mohanta, Padmalochan Mohanta, and Alok Patra—who are also contractual workers employed by a vendor, Satyam Enterprises. The latest suspect is identified as Manas.
Silu Pradhan was reportedly killed by his coworkers over a dispute regarding the division of stolen oil from the plant on October 30. Following the altercation, his body was concealed by digging a pit near the batching unit of the NINL plant the same night. On Friday, after his family reported him missing, police discovered his lifeless body, which was found naked with his hands and legs bound by ropes.
A resident of Kulunigoda village within the Gondia police jurisdiction of Dhenkanal district, Silu was employed as a machine helper in the batching unit of the plant. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident is ongoing.
