odisha news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Jan 13: The Odisha government on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre to roll out the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) integrated with the state’s Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana.

The MoU was signed by Odisha’s Health and Family Welfare Secretary, Aswathy S, and National Health Authority (NHA) CEO, L S Changsan, in the presence of Union Health Minister J P Nadda, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, Deputy Chief Minister K V Singh Deo, and Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling. Prominent Union Ministers from Odisha, including Dharmendra Pradhan, Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Jual Oram, also attended the event.

Odisha has become the 34th state/UT to implement the scheme, providing comprehensive healthcare coverage to economically vulnerable families. A single bilingual health card will now consolidate benefits from both schemes, offering Rs 5 lakh annual coverage per family for secondary and tertiary care, with an additional Rs 5 lakh for women.

The initiative will cover 1.03 crore families, including 67.8 lakh supported by the central government. The scheme also integrates the Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana (PMVVY) for added social security.
